One kid told me I look like the main character. Anyway, though, this film is funny - but I never thought World War II death camps would be funny.🙄 Someone enlighten me.

Is this the Italian made movie that won an Oscar for best picture? I haven't seen it but I remember reading the news about the awards. I think the director also womn an award. Shades of Slumdog Millionaire.

Hogan's Heroes was much the same also. But I wonder how realistic is was. I'd say not much - though troops on the Western Front were treated 80 percent better than those from the east.

Life Is Beautiful is one of my favourite movies. Takes a pretty strong human being to work all day, doing things that you used to think was beyond your capacity, then going back to your bed while in extreme pain and feeling incredibly exhausted and still scraping enough life out of yourself to put a smile on your face just so someone else can smile through a terrible situation, while not even knowing they're in a terrible situation. Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi was amazing in this. And I had never heard of Giorgio Cantarini before Life Is Beautiful but he definitely got a fan out of me. I can't wait to see him in Lamborghini.

Sorry if this comment sounds weird, but actually prisons are full of people trying to be comedians and also people trying to arouse drama (by being mean or otherwise - either comically or not). As you say, it's a way of putting the situation outside of the terrible reality - and escape.
