So, I bought this domain in January thinking "oh I'll just do something with it later" but it's a waste of $9.99 if I cannot think of anything to put on it. I have hosting and I have the domain, I have the theme if it's going to be a forum, I'm not not entirely sure what to put on it.

I was thinking something along the lines of a general/life forum, given the name it'd be a little more "exclusive". I just don't have the kind of money to put into contests, you know? Idk, help me brainstorm. <3 What should I put on this domain?

I would be interested to know if this 'gay teen' is you? You're gay? Don't worry, I am so I don't judge. xD But if so you could perhaps use it as a personal blog.

I thought you knew? 😛 I swear we had a Skype convo about it. xD

Anyway, I was thinking of a personal blog but I'm not much of a huge writer. 😛 Not enough to write about my boring life. 😛

And I just liked the ring to the name, so I bought the domain. 😛

I can't remember. I'm so bad! LOL
I'm sure your life is interesting. Even if you post about a fast food place you go to, etc. What you get, that sort of thing.

Sure you can think of stuff.

You could turn it into a small supportive community for LGBT teens. It seems like a good domain for those. However, I'm sure there are many big sites with which you'd be competing in that niche.

Yeah, that's my goal. 😀

LGBT forums work. I have been members of some. But most are dead now. Because like always.... Facebook overrules everything with their Group options.

I think you should start off with a blog. Once the blog has developed and you have a pretty solid base of readers, you can then add a forum for a LGBT community.

Actually, I like the forum option. Maybe hold a weekly discussion to get members involved. The chat can talk about various struggles about being gay. As an example, telling your parents, being open about your sexuality, etc. While there may be other forums in this particular niche, you don't see many people making them.

You can also go the blog route and you can talk about your own obstacles that you've had to overcome being who you are. My niece is a lesbian and my family, aside from a select few of us, don't accept who she is. It's truly sickening. 🙁

So I guess my initial thought is: How much do you value your time? Is the time investment to: plan, set up and maintain your new site worth more than taking a hit on a $9.99 domain?

It sounds like you don't want to waste $9.99 on a domain name, but the value of the time you spend forcing an idea is going to be worth much more.

At this stage, I suggest not forcing it. Sit on the domain for the year and go ahead if something comes to you. If it's meant to be it'll happen, if not you've saved yourself hours of time and energy that you can now invest elsewhere.

Remember, they can be multi-purpose. For example my forum is Security and Computing (mainly) and a little bit of gaming. It can be for more than one thing 🙂
