I am purchased a responsive theme called Funkyone which is a great colorful theme. However, the theme is slightly dark and a promotion forum isn't a niche that favors a dark theme. Does a light or dark theme really affect your niche or it does not matter at all? Both themes are mobile friendly which is a key pro, but it's a bit dark.

I am one who abhors dark themes. Maybe it's my eyes that has a problem because it is difficult for me to discern the entirety of the web page. I sometimes visit a site that has a black background and white fonts. You can guess that I exited at once.

Thank you for your response! This is the actual dark theme. Not sure if it's suitable for a webmaster/promotion niche.

Both 🙂 have an theme selection so that members can pick, give them more options and choices

I think you could use that one for a promotion/webmaster forum. You are correct that the color acceptability depends greatly on the niche. Some niches lend themselves to dark themes very well, such as fashion, tech, and gaming communities.

I like both, depending on my mood. It’s best for a forum to offer both.

I prefer an option of both as it depends on the intensity of these Dark & Light themes- Some are too Dark or Light while others are more tame

As a designer who has done a lot of UI and UX, as a whole, light themes are plainly just more readable than dark themes, and usability studies indicate that people will gravitate to a light theme more than a dark one, even in the genres in which you think a dark theme would be prevalent.

I love dark themes as long as the text is legible and easy to see. The brighter themes hurt my eyes, so I’ll resort to dark themes if they are available. It’s all based on a user’s personal preference.

I personally think that it all just depends on the niche and what the name is as well. I've seen various different communities offer both a light and dark style theme set, and sometimes the darker theme fits or the lighter one fits best.
