Light Skin over Dark Skin

I forgot where I read this. But forums who have lighter colored templates/skins etc. Attract more users based on a 100 forum survey by a 50% increase. So I was wondering about MY forum. It's name is Sick Sigs, and it has a black template. But should I switch to a white template? I was just wondering what you guys think is more suitable for the name of my forum. Thanks ~

I much prefer dark templates as they don't hurt my eyes... Some light templates are ok just aslong as they aren't all really light as if it has some darkness on it it is ok.

I used to hate dark styles, i was always a big fan of light styles.

Now though, i much prefer dark styles. Because my job involves a lot of computer work, i've damaged my eyes to the extent i wear transition lenses when using a computer.

Dark styles (as fowler said) lessen the glare that comes off the screen, and makes for a more pleasurable forum experience ~smile~

a skin should be based of it's theme. and for graphic sites, i prefer to see a darker skin.

check out my forum, you'll see one of the craziest skins ever created in forum history.

It's based off the Brawl character in my Sig below. Samus Aran's suit from Metroid prime 3 : Corruption.

i took a risk, it's a gaming forum, which are visually colorful, and i just used the samus colors to build around theme.

when you highlight a topic or Board, it turns a greenish yellow, and that's the illusion you're looking through the green visor.

it was pure accident, but when the thought occured to me, it's stayed,, and my members l,ove the skin, i changed it once to a dark moses skin for solid snake, which is now an option, but my members complained, they loved the dark samus skin, so its back as the defaulkt.

dark ot light skin? it really prefers on the theme and what kind of message you want to send about your forum.

It depends what type of forum it is like if it is a sports forum a light template would be better but if it for gaming, graphics etc I prefer dark.

Well it was hell switching from Light to Dark since many of the colors got mixed up, but I finally did it! 😀

I'm sorry, but I cant stand dark templates. I preffer light templates, because I like them more, and light ones may attract more guests.

On this forum the dark ones better than the light one.

Doesn't really matter, as long as it doesn't hurt my eyes. I have trouble seeing some dark styles, too. But mostly just the really poor ones.

I use a light template, but not so bright that you can't see. ~cheesey_grin~

It depends on how dark and how light. Either can be quite fine, but you have to make it work well.

Why not have both and let people choose which they prefer?

I'm not too hot about light skins because it hurts my eyes most of the time. But I also don't like a skin that's way too dark. The dark skin here is OK, but I'm not sure if there are any other options. I haven't checked.
