Do you have a like plugin on your forum?

I have a pretty simple one on my forum that displays a like button on the bottom of every post with the basic like/unlike functions. You also get an alert when someones liked your post.

I don't have the whole likes thing on my forum, I find it rather tacky. Facebook has likes, I don't think I should be copying from them. That, and it puts more emphasis on the reputation system that benefits the forum more than a likes system. 😛

Exactly, I prefer a reputation system as it has more meaning then a simple "like" system. Likes are giving out too frequently in forums today.

I generally think that reputation is just as good / better. People generally put more value in rep on a forum, and it has a very similar effect to likes, particularly if its done right.

I tried getting one for myBB 1.6 but the only one that is available is broken and the developers for the plugin don't seem to care to fix it so I uninstalled it immediately

I use XenForo and likes are built in. No need for a plugin.

Members love to hit that like button. :cheer:

We even have a component to our side-bar that shows the top 12 members with the most amount of likes (from the past week).

It gives members a way to show appreciation towards each other and it gives them another way to interact with each other (which is the whole point of forums, interaction).

^ Exactly. 😀

I use XenForo, and it has a like system enabled automatically. However, I don't normally use it unless someone has actually helped me, or something similar to that. 😛

We do, but they're not used in the same way as Facebook. Members give reputations to highly agreeable or otherwise well-written posts.

I do! I always like to have this plugin for when I don't know how to reply to something, I can just like the post. 😛

The funny thing about any Like system is that I've heard people say that it does more harm than good. People get upset because you liked another post and not theirs, and even when you try to explain that you liked that one because you enjoyed reading it, it's still a game of them screaming at you. 😛

I've witnessed people getting angry over receiving a "negative reputation point" or a "down vote" since those can be interpreted as insulting...

But people get upset because you liked another post and not theirs? ...That's a new one. 😛
