I was playing around with designs in PhotoShop and GIMP.

And I thought, Hell Why not learn PHP, HTML, CSS, and MySql?

I already know many basics of each having been on forums for 5 years.

Anyone interested in helping out with the project?

Also any feature suggestions would be helpful.

It's Okay, but if you look at all the other forum systems out there, you need to aim for something like that, as yours in not very professional and does not really appeal.

I definetely agree with Damien, you need to design a page unique enough to attract members, and sounds good so goodluck with it.

I, for one, probobly won't be interested unless you have anything to show, really. You, as the lead developer, need to be able to do a lot of it yourself.

IIRC you don't have any money to invest and to be honest I can't see it getting far if you plan on taking it seriously.

As for the index page, can't say it looks great and isn't suited to a forum software website.

Thats what they said about so many other forum software yet they are doing fine 🙂.
