Well what do you like? I personally like CentOS, which is Linux. It is more stable and less hackable than windows. Then again, if you're not the best with SSH commands, I guess Windows is more user friendly. It's mostly on opinion.
Linux is better and somehow quicker.Mind you suppense what mb you got.I got 200,000mb and it works slower on Windows.
And 200,000 is the fastest thing to use on Windows.
Yet i sigh .10 years later.*Smashes the computer*.Goes to hospital.
Well as I'm using dedicated server with linux. On all my servers I have 640 GB, and on one I have 320 GB. Instead of using MB, try GB. It's a lot easier. Instead of 200,000 MB you have 200GB. 1 GB = 1000 MB
Linux is more secure , much more customizable more freedom in the operating system no limits to whats changed and its all free 🙂
on the other hand msoft has programs that i need e.g PS , and games are limited in linux therefore im stuck to eathor dual booting or sticking with windows for now 🙁
I love Knoppix. It has saved me on many occasions, by allowing me to access the drive when either windows was corrupted, or when the drive itself was failing. Using Knoppix, I was able to plug in my 40gb hdd (which was formatted in FAT) via USB, and then take all of my important files and copy them to the 40gb (since it can read and write to FAT partitions) and then format the (windows) drive and reinstall the O/S. I have also been able to burn data dvds of info using the second burner, when my biggest hdd had a problem.
So now, whenever I have a MAJOR Windows problem that requires a format, or if the drive itself starts to go bad, or if I am in the mood to play Frozen Bubble or Enigma, then I'll pop in the Knoppix disk.
I wouldn't mind installing Mandriva and giving that a test drive because I do like the way it looks.
