Here is Lisa's newest video where she describes the effect on coding's effects on SEO:

I'd kindly disagree with what Lisa says in the begining about SE ranking being mainly about quality backlinks.

Don't get me wrong, they are important, but I've found that being in the top of the search engine rankings requires a healthy balance of 1)Content, 2)Links, and 3)Acivity.

If you just go and build a bunch of links back to a new site that has little content or real, human activity Google will label you as a spam site, which often have tons of incoming links (and quality ones too), but are short lived scams.

I will agree with her main message about changing the source code though. Thanks for the share! 🙂

I used to watch lisa in the beginning of 2008, but this year I stopped watching her because she uses methods from the past which arn't as effective as today as they were.

Regardless of her "success", I would have to disagree with most of what she said.

She orders "backlinks" > "content". Since when is off page SEO more important that on-page SEO? Wikipedia didn't get so popular only because people were linking to them. Wikipedia utilizes internal linking, nofollow external links, content title tags, header tags and good coding structure. They are all on-page SEO. Having quality content will override your backlinks because Google will want to provide relevant results over results due to backlinks.

Also, the "changing your code" technique was known during 2005. It is an old technique, and probably one of the first techniques you need to understand.
