It's funny you should say "silly rules" considering that you have the same rule on your own forum;

Members are welcome to advertise their affiliate links on Forum Promotion, but only in the appropriate advertising forum section, just like on your own forum, assuming of course that you implement that rule.

I'd be extremely surprised if you find a good quality forum that allows affiliate links in normal forum posts, but anyway good luck with that.

Like I said in Pm that rule was on a case by case basis and lists were not counted as one of the ones to not allow.
