MyBB used to have a mod that allowed you to lock individual posts from being edited. What do you see as a benefit from having that feature?

I don't see any benefit to it. I let my members edit their posts, saves staff running around doing it

With a feature like this, it helps prevent editing of rules or guidelines that you know you won't be updating for awhile. Also ofcourse it helps to prevent people from inserting things that you don't want put into posts after the fact.

On forums I have run I allowed sixty minute post edits freely. After that they would have to contact a moderator. I see that if someone made a mistake in a post they would notice in at least the first five minutes 😱

I don't really see the point. If someone keeps messing with posts, warn or ban them.

Yet how that can work? if you still can reply on an topic.. lol I don't like that option. But like members to edit it and 80% of the time they don't anyway

Well, a lot of times people can say trash on there - and then they could delete it off. That would seem cowardly to some - and an edit feature would allow it.

However, besides that, I'd rather have edit on there - because a lot of people need to correct spelling, grammar - or perhaps they have something more interesting to say.

If a post is really horrible, then it probably should be deleted.
I would like to think that whoever posted it learnt from their mistakes however.
