Do you lock threads in your forum often? I only do it if I really think I need to, I know some forums that lock too many posts.

I do, and I dont. If the posts have gone waaaay offtopic, instead of deleting them often ill just lock the thread. I leave alot of the topic open though, mostly because im too lazy to lock them.

I only lock if it is against the rules or if a topic has turned quite heated and you know if you post saying calm down you know they won't pay any attention and carry on so it is better to lock it and put an end to it.

I agree. I hate it when some forums lock topics for nothing though, I never understand that.

It really depends, Forum-topic locking is a fine art, in the depths of china. Well, if it is a topic which is getting out of hand, and issues are escalating.
I will lock the thread, and thus deal with the users involved in the incident separately.

hardly ever. i know some sites lock really old threads but ive never seen the point in that. why do you need multiple threads on the same topics 😛

I lock posts when a problem is solved or it has gone offtopic or theres been flaming -D-

i'll lock when a repeat topic is made, that someone didn't look in the right section in the first place.

or if one does goes wayyy off topic.

one thing i can't stand on forums, is as soon as a MOD answers a question, they lock the topic. and thye lock it when "they're" satisfied, not the actual questioner. some MODs just love using their abilities at any given moment.

i really can't stand that, they leave no room for discussion; or to even just say your last points after a mod answered.

i think some do that, to add to their topic count. cause you have to mke one to beroing th eissue back.

I also don't lock double posts/threads, I just delete them. I don't see the point in keeping them on the forum.

It depends. I usually don't lock topics unless they're getting spammy, a flame war as begun, the topic is solved or if a similar topic already exists 🙂

I usually only delete topics if they are innapropriote or if the topic has been posted multiple times.

I can't stand the people who lock and edit out spam posts by spam bots and keep them in public view... Sometimes the whole forum is covered in these and you can't actually see the real topics.

I'll lock a topic if it violates the rules, by request from the author, if it is a duplicate, or if I've posted a topic that has no need for a response, such as rules, informative updates, etc..

I never lock threads, if people are arguing, I sit back and enjoy the post count. -D-
