Do you participate in lotteries where you live? How many tickets do you buy? Do you have a lucky set of numbers or do you use random ones?

I know in the United States, most people have a state lottery and a country as a whole lottery. What are your thoughts of how much money they give, receive? Would you change the lottery in any way?

I buy a lottery ticket every now and then. In NY most of the proceeds go to the Education Department so I never feel bad losing a few bucks.

I really like the scratch off tickets though. Whenever I have a couple of bucks laying around I'll buy a couple of tickets.

I buy a lottery ticket every now and then. I used to do it quite often but once you realise that the chances of winning is so low, you will reduce your investment on lotteries.

Not very frequently. There isn't a lottery in AL, but I also don't like that lottery games put the players at a disadvantage. If you calculate the expected value of a lottery ticket, it's a lot less than it costs, which means that buying one means you effectively lose money. And the chances are so low anyways that it's almost like throwing the money away. 😛

I prefer to take part in raffles than in lotteries. Not sure if there is much difference though.

I have won $200 once playing lotto. Haven't won since. Must have been a fluke

What happens if I accidentally lose a winning ticket?
Then life fucked you over, unless it wouldn't have been much of a win. :r

Hey ! Of course, I love lotteries, usually I buy 1 ticket when I go shopping once a week, once I won, the last 3 digits were 688, these are my lucky numbers. But since I switched to remote work, I only buy tickets online for usa lotteries online

Very occasionally. I only play like £2 too just as a laugh. Only done it a few times though and I haven't even won anything each time.

Yes, I have one at least 20 bucks or something once. Anyway, as with poker machines, a large bankroll will pull you thru, but it's never a sure thing - as "The house always wins." 😎

I've known people who've won tons of money & others who've won various amounts.

It isn't a big deal unless it becomes an addiction or a substitute for a hard day's work

I used to when our state pushed the lottery to help elderly, now they just advertise gambling triggers to push it on our state's growing gambling addict population.

Wanna know a funny secret? Last year I won $25,000 on the lottery ($19,000 after taxes). I didn't even buy the ticket, At the grocery store people scan loosing scratch offs and throw them in the recycle bin sooo I would go in every once in a while and scan for the 2nd chance drawing. My wife was always sooo embarrassed until I won, now even during covid she is like when are you gonna start doing that again. lol
