Nodar Kumaritashvili from Georgia died during a men's luge training session today at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games in Whistler, British Columbia.

The track was unsafe and he just flew off and hit a cement pillar. He was going 144.3 km/h (that's over 86.6 mph). It's horrible... there's no lighter way to put it.

IOC President Jacques Rogge said the death hours before the opening ceremony "clearly casts a shadow over these games." If I was competing I just couldn't feel safe after this. How do you think this will effect the Winter games?
