Lurkers

I know some members tend to lurk on a forum before joining. Are you okay with that? Do you discourage it? I don’t mind people lurking. My forum is closed to guest posting except in the Affiliates section so a lurker can’t turn into a troll & demean members & their posts.
 
most of the time I can't really tell who is lurking, I mean all guests are guests and they say that they are all guests. Only time that most people know about it when they join and say that they have been around but never join till now
 
I don't mind what people do unless they start breaking rules or trolling members, or even posting duplicate or copied content. The basic requirement that a member needs to follow is to post original content.
 
As someone who is an avid lurker myself not just on forums but even in the content creation world as well, I always welcome lurkers. I myself prefer to sit and lurk and see how things work and how the community is before I jump in and start to post so that I do not feel too out of place.
 
Much like streaming, a lurker is still a view, to your site, or content. I don't see a problem with them unless they turn around and try to use up precious resources like your Bandwidth.
