I recently acquired a new Macbook Pro Retina =) My husband needed something more portable so we made a deal where I bought him the Surface Pro 2 and he in turn gave me his Macbook Pro Retina!

Anyway, it didn't take long for me to adjust from windows, now I'm just trying to figure out what else I can do with this amazing machine.

What programs, games, etc do you have on your mac?

What do you plan on doing with it? Software would mainly be geared towards what you plan on doing with it. Graphics, video, things like that 🙂

Good point. Honestly I'm a sort of jack of all trades haha I like to dabble on a little bit of everything but have yet to master anything 😉 I guess I can start with what I do have...I have photoshop, I recently downloaded Chrome and I'm starting to love the simplicity and smoothness of the browser. Rdio is pretty awesome.

I like to write and I post on various forum communities including my own. I have pinnacle on my Samsung laptop I haven't decided what I want to use for video editing on here.

I guess I'm just asking other mac users what do they do personally so I can see if there's anything I'd like to try based on others' interests/hobbies.

Since your mentioned Photoshop...

iPhoto is very powerful software that comes with your Mac for everything to do with photos. It'll easily import your photos, create events, you can use it to enhance your photos, etc.

If you'd like to get a little more advanced you can try Aperture. It'll give you finer control when editing your photos so you can really perfect stuff like your highlights and shadows past what Photoshop and iPhoto can do.

If you're interested in the photo tools (or even iMovie or Final Cut X) you can always give LowISO Forum a shot 🙂

That's great deal :cheer: :great:
You can do many activities through this machine. Like gaming, listening songs, reading etc. Choose what you like.

I've had this computer for months now and I must say I am loving it every day. I still feel like I'm not using it at it's full potential.

To all Mac users once more I ask, what are YOUR favorite programs to use on your computer?

As I have said, when you go Mac, you never go back! :great:
Everything looks and works perfectly. It's just too good! 🙂 Enjoy your Mac, Sharon! 🙂

If you use both Photoshop and Illustrator, you might want to look at some of the best alternatives out there. For Photoshop, we have Pixelmator. And then for Illustrator, there's Sketch.

Here's a list of apps that you might find useful:

- Unclutter
- PopClip
- 1Password 4
- iStat Menus
- Mailbox (beta)
- Transmit for FTP
- Tweetbot

The most ideal route is to introduce a windows through boot-camp, so that all the realistic card memory is committed to the diversion...

I've been using a Mac since 2008. The things I like best about a Mac is that each update goes smoothly, unlike Windows updates, plus they are either free or very inexpensive. Although it's a good idea to have an anti-virus, it's not as essential as when running Windows.

As for programs, except for those, like PhotoShop, that are available in both PC and Mac versions, Mac apps tend to be on the inexpensive side.

For a WYSIWYG web editor, my preference is for RapidWeaver and, for quick stuff, Sandvox is a very intuitive editor, but template based and not as versatile as RapidWeaver.

Although others are available and there are ways to to these things natively, on the Mac, I like MainMenu for doing maintenance tasks.

Bean is a great text editor, as it automatically saves your work. For graphics, I prefer Pixelmator to Gimp.

While I use Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, I use Safari most often, and Firefox the least, as its Mac version is on the bloated side, which may be true of its Windows version now too, although it used to be lightweight when I was running Windows machines.

Rather than getting boot camp, I decided to jump in with both feet and dump my Windows stuff, although we do still have a working PC set up.

Perhaps because my first Mac was a MacBook, I decided that I prefer a trackpad to a Mac mouse. I never did like the Mac mouse, so I use a trackpad with my iMac as well. My wife, who also uses a Mac, prefers rodents.
