I've been using a Mac since 2008. The things I like best about a Mac is that each update goes smoothly, unlike Windows updates, plus they are either free or very inexpensive. Although it's a good idea to have an anti-virus, it's not as essential as when running Windows.
As for programs, except for those, like PhotoShop, that are available in both PC and Mac versions, Mac apps tend to be on the inexpensive side.
For a WYSIWYG web editor, my preference is for RapidWeaver and, for quick stuff, Sandvox is a very intuitive editor, but template based and not as versatile as RapidWeaver.
Although others are available and there are ways to to these things natively, on the Mac, I like MainMenu for doing maintenance tasks.
Bean is a great text editor, as it automatically saves your work. For graphics, I prefer Pixelmator to Gimp.
While I use Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, I use Safari most often, and Firefox the least, as its Mac version is on the bloated side, which may be true of its Windows version now too, although it used to be lightweight when I was running Windows machines.
Rather than getting boot camp, I decided to jump in with both feet and dump my Windows stuff, although we do still have a working PC set up.
Perhaps because my first Mac was a MacBook, I decided that I prefer a trackpad to a Mac mouse. I never did like the Mac mouse, so I use a trackpad with my iMac as well. My wife, who also uses a Mac, prefers rodents.
