Do you believe in magic?
When I was a kid, there was a man, that always pass through our street, he was an acclaimed magician. He draws the attention of people, by driving a sword through his stomach, without been hurt or dead. I really have no clue how these things are been done.
Do you think Magic is a trick or is it real?

Well, it depends on what you are calling magic. If it is spellcraft and sorcery, then no. However, I do believe in things like shamanistic healing, spirit communication, and divination. I've seen that trick with the sword done before... and the guy actually did push the sword into himself. It was one of those "freak shows" and the guy said he had the ability to move his organs out of the way. I don't know if that is true, but it was stunning.

It's definitely a trick, some are better than others at keeping you guessing. Derren Brown is an example of somebody who is a very talented magician.

Some Christians believe it's demonic - hence is real, some of it.

I've always had a theory that some magicians have real skills because they've made a 'deal' with the dark forces. Slight of hand and fame in exchange for their soul or completing some sort of task. These things work on a clock or schedule. The magician who made the deal could be called upon to spread a certain message later on in life, as part of his or her 'agreement.' It's just a theory though.

Magic is science that we simply do not yet understand.

That said, you can’t turn someone into a frog by focusing real hard and saying “pew pew pew pew”

Some expand that to many other professions - and shockingly, I have to agree.

That's Hollywood's version of magic. Hollywood and American society have taken many things and turned them into more 'marketable' properties. Take Santa Claus for example. St. Nick was originally Turkish. Nothing close to the jolly american man in the red suit who flies a sleigh pulled by reindeer.

The portrayal of magic seems harmless (say on Super Mario or something), but the real deal is highly dangerous.

I’ll put a hex on you!

No, unless you count aliens. The technology of a really advanced civilisation would look like magic to you.
