Appearance
I love the color scheme. I am a fan of simplicity, and your theme reveals your forum in a very calm and simple way. Even more so, I love the logo; it's very unique and goes perfectly with the background. Your theme and appearance, in general is excellent. There isn't much more I can say about it to improve it, the calm green, the shadow behind text is great.
However, some of the forums' images are a different story. For example, on the sidebar the ~125vs125 banner that says "register today...click here" banner is very off looking. Also the following forum markers aren't great looking and I think you can do/find better suitable ones for your forum.
Layout
Again, you did a great job sorting your forums out. You don't have a great number of forums which is an
EXCELLENT strategy for new starting forums. I don't know much about Folk music, so I assume the forums that are on top are related and would catch interest of targeted visitors. However, I was unable to find a forum for announcements or forum suggestions. It's a great way to formally talking to your members and letting them know what's going on. Also, the sidebar is a great idea. Not many forums utilize sidebars but personally I think it's a great feature. But I think the box for "latest threads" is a little crowded. I would suggest you remove number of views and who the last post was by.
Statistics and Activity
While doing this review, there were several number of guests online but no members online. For a forum that is only a little over 2 months, you have 2,011 posts in 487 threads. That is nothing short of awesome. However, for the ration of posts/members, your number of members should be higher.
Content
Going through several of the posts and discussions, you have a great community going on and your members seem truly interested in discussing their views. Keep doing what you do, provide intriguing posts and have friendly discussion.
Organisation and SEO

Organization, I think the fact that you have separate pages for things such as What is Folk Music is great instead of a post/thread. Your forums are well organized.
SEO, somethings apply and somethings don't apply for forums but in my opinion what does matter...you have most of it covered. You've got links to social media, you have a blog with unique content and not to mention your forum posts are very lengthy and unique content as well. One general suggestion I can make to speed up your web site is to use a cdn server to host your images from, it can be your own sub domain. Your forum does take a little longer to load than usual.
