Online petitions have a well deserved reputation for being pointless wastes of time. That is because they are generally administrated by sites that have no bearing or input on the appropriate company, government body, or entity being petitioned for change.

However, http://www.whitehouse.gov/ has implemented an online petition service where citizens can make their voice heard. It is in this spirit that I have begun the petition below to prevent the FBI from reporting misdemeanor offenses older than ten years from appearing on non-law enforcement queries.

The reason I ask people to support this petition is that it is unfair that those who have committed minor offenses in the distant past be punished throughout the rest of their life. A criminal record adversely affects the chances for a person to obtain or advance in a job, especially in this tough economy. By giving people a light at the end of the tunnel, it provides incentive to stay clean if they have made a minor mistake in their life.

For more information on this petition, please read http://wh.gov/gm0

Sign it if you will, share it if you can.

Thank you for your support.

lol like this is going to be any help. I see that the top petitions include removing "under god" from the pledge of allegiance and "In God We Trust" from dollar bills.

Seriously, if that is your biggest concern in the govt then you deserve all the bureaucracy bs we get and have no right to complain about anything else. Which leads me to paraphrase George Carlin in that Politicians aren't evil horrible people when we're the people voting them in. Anyone else in their position would be as much of a dumb***, just take a glance at the local population of walmart and that's the vast majority of our people.

Can't read the articles in Canada but from what Gimgak says, sounds like Canada isn't the only country with clowns for politicians.
