I registered a domain name for an advertisement forum a few weeks ago. Now, should I create one or is there too many and I should just leave it for a while and continue coding and stuff for course next year? I would be able to manage both AND course AND work but is there room for one more or what???? Discuss. 🙂

There is no room for another to be honest, unless you have something special to offer your users.

Me and Scooter (Administrator of Web Surf) would be able to make it Unique. 🙂

No, make it bud! There are never to many. You will be doing everyone a big favor. It is more forum help for them.

There is alot of competition now and there probably always will be. There has been loads around for aslong as i can remember. Even since before FP started. Just remember 2 things:

1) Make it unique and don't copy rules, forum names, descriptions from other forums
2) Keep working hard on it, don't give up. It takes many months to get a decent amount of activity to the forum.

But if you're busy with a course, maybe it would be wise to leave your forum until your done, or let your other Admin be in charge for a while?

To be honest, there are way too many promotion forums out there, so I would leave it if I were you. Unless, as was said before, you can come up with some unique services.

Only make a promotion forum if:
  • You have lot of time.
  • You have money.
  • Have at least 1 unique service.
  • Have a awesome style.
  • Paid hosting.

Well, my course starts in May till September so I would have a bit of time and then my mate could run it or something? And of course, I wouldn't make a FP copycat.

Don't do it.
That is my opinion. I have shared why before. Just don't do it unless you want a lot of work on your hands, are ready for slow or close to no results, lots of members who just want your services, and many other things.

I ran one and got about 2.5k posts. After that many posts you realize that majority of the people are there for services. They come and leave and only come back when they can get more services. It's just not fun.

I think people open these places open because they think they can become as successful as FP. Well then.. Why don't you start a search engine? Or ebay? Craiglist? Myspace? Facebook? How about twitter?
Think of something original and do that.

Well, I do have a MySpace type site. 😀 I could do a site with auctions and promotion and games and books and err... ???
