Small Forum Review
First Impressions
I’m not really sure what my first impressions are here, because to be honest I’m not 100% sure what the forum is about, “Make it Sound” doesn’t say anything to me, and when I land on the home page I’m left wondering whether it is a general discussion forum, or a rant forum, I finally decided that it is a general forum trying to appeal to as wide a membership as possible in the hope that it will become popular.
Appearance
I spent some time trying to work out which forum software is being used but I drew a blank, it could be one of many.
For a general discussion forum the colour scheme and general layout are a bit bland, the black and grey tones are in my mind a little depressing for what could be a happy place, I feel it gives the wrong impression, it may look “artistic” and “modern”, but it’s not the right theme for the genre.
The banner is way too small, it looks more like a navbar than a banner, I was left wondering if you had a banner at all.
The index has no categorisation at all, all you can see is a long list of threads, which have no order about them at all, so it really is difficult to see the difference from one to the other.
Ratios and Statistics
This is a very young forum, so to comment on this too much would be wrong, the post (comment) count is very low, even for a young forum, I am hoping this is still pre-launch with the amount of content it has, I could not decide who were and were not admin, but with the membership numbers you have, controlling them should be easy for one person.
Content
The board looks full of threads, all created by one or two people, which suggests that you have a very small member base, because the comments on those threads are negligible, so once again it is actually very difficult to comment on the actual content.
Final Remarks
I found the whole experience of visiting this forum quite confusing, it is as if the owner of it has not yet decided which way to go, the lack of categories in the index leads to a confusing system of navigation, the sidebar has a list of categories, but even when you use that, it is still confusing, the rest of the sidebar is taken up with the “best tags”, that’s a completely new one on me, and as far as I am concerned useless in it’s present format.
The whole idea of this forum needs a complete and utter re-think, from theme right through to layout and presentation.
