I've seen this MANY, many, many, many times before.

When a user joins a promotion forum, makes either a basic promotion topic or/and a package request then never coming back to the forum or leave for a while.

This usually happens when a forum is coming back, etc and they say something like, "*FORUM NAME HERE* Is back and is offering free 25 post packages" (for example) Then leave.

They don't bother to make a few posts (to show their appreciation) or even an Introduction.

Well, promotion forums aren't made for a community. Community forums are made for a community. Promotion forums are a way to get activity for your forum through a basic thread. I do think they should stay and at least post one or two more but some of them only care about the promotion side of things on the forum.

I happened to come back to wober when Theezy and I did some post exchanges. It is all depends on the forums and what members are interested in.

That's because I'm in it for the posts, not the community.

Oh my, did I just say that out loud?

That's what promotion forums are made for, to be honest.

It is always going to happen... you will get a lot of people who post an advertisement and never come back and that will always be the case. A lot of people do not see a promotion forum as a community and simply a place to post an advertisement and leave.

I treat this place like an admin forum these days. Apart from the odd review, I don't use the ''promotion features''.

I do understand why people make one or two posts and leave, though.

The point of a promotion forum is to promote a forum, not stay. In fact, I'd like to see a promotion forum with no off-topic sections 😛 That would certainly be interesting at the least.

I have to agree with santanoice. =] And ignore my first post, I didn't read the contents and posted based on the topic title.

I don't actually mind the advertising ones, the thing that REALLY grates on me are members than make an introduction saying something like "look forward to posting..." and then never come back!

Actually, that's what I do too. I'll probably request packages once a month but that's about it, though.

It doesn't only happen on promotion forums. New members who own traditional bricks and mortar businesses, sometimes join my business forum, ask a couple of questions and then never post again.

They probably had one question in mind, found the forum, asked their question, got some answers and then felt that they had no more need to participate on the forum.

Strangely enough this doesn't happen so much with owners of online businesses, they tend to stay around and become active, probably because they are online every day.

I don't blame them. The percentage of laziness in the world is increasing. And people have lots of things to do like promoting their sites.
