I believe its possible to make a small living with just forums, unless of course you own a large company.

Re: Making A luving Out of forums

Depending on how much money you make per month, then of course. It's been done plenty of time.

I heard this story that this one guy was making 10000 a month of google ads ALONE. that's twice, maybe 3 time of what someone makes on average.

Dang, that's pretty darn good, to be honest. I didn't think AdSense was that effective. But I suppose it all depends on how active your site is as well, don't it? Because if your site's really active, and especially if it's been around for a while, then you could probably make more money as your site gets older vs. someone just barely starting out.

Yes for sure. Keep in mind this is just off of google adwords, so he is probably making thousands more other ways.

You need to have an active site that has been around for a while to do this. What this man did was make a website in which the people that join, are looking for certain products, which is what google adwords brings

It's possible, but you can't reach such a position in a day. And most importantly, not everyone will reach such a position.

That's how he did so well then. He brought in ads for things that people would actually be interested in, rather than the usual crap you get out of AdSense, like I know they do a thing where they'll post ads related to discussions on your site. Like if you're talking about automobiles, they'll come up with ads for probably where the cheapest dealerships are and stuff like that. But they don't realize that just because you're discussing vehicles, it doesn't mean that everyone has an interest in discussing cars or trucks. And this can also be a bad thing for if your forum isn't even about automobiles, but yet you're having a general discussion about them.

I wonder if someone could actually make A forum As Big As Facebook 70000 users is alot

Um, have you looked at FP's stats lately? Total posts 806,920 • Total topics 74,226 • Total members 9,877

Okay, kind of a bad example. But the main idea here is that as long as a person is dedicated, and has the time and energy for such a project, and as long as the site's still up and running after so long, just about anybody can make a forum/site work if they wanted to badly enough.

Woahh,They would be paying lots for there servers
Im going to try to get A forum that active
Only things I need todo is no more open/Shut and stay dedicated

And im willing to add some money into this

Paying lot for their servers? Do you think they buy hosting from a hosting company like Hostgator?
Facebook runs their own servers and there are more than 60,000 servers for them.

Well, make sure you can afford it if you ever do get that active. Because with a lot of hosts, the more bandwidth you need, the more money you're going to end up spending. So really, hosting costs can and probably do get expensive in the long haul, so you may want to have some sort of budget going on and start putting money aside.

Facebook on VPS? Are you kidding?

It had reached more than 60,000 servers in 2010. Right now it would have atleast 70,000 servers.

You should know that facebook isn't run be an individual or a small group of people. Its an organization spread around world. It has offices in most of the countries. So, fitting 70,000 servers isn't a big issue for them.

I hope one day I will get to this A business in web development but they have done alot in just 8 years
