Making Video Games

Blender is a 3D render, you still need to either use an existing game engine or code your own to make a game.

Hmm, never knew that but it's been a while since I ever messed around with it.

If you ever want to be a real game programmer, don't use these for real games. Free engines fit all and are crap. Making your own is the only way to go.

So I'm guessing every single game developer who uses UE3 isn't a real game developer, just a group of kids screwing around? 😛. It's not free but hardly anyone makes their own game engine anymore unless they plan on licensing it.

Just because it's free doesn't mean it's crap. This isn't like most game engines, the blender engine requires lot's of programming for it to even do anything. And even then it is built for lower graphics games, like racing games mostly.

It is crap compared to doing it yourself. Not versatile and restrictions.

It's at least somewhere to start for someone just getting into it I guess.

I don't make Video Games. Too hard.

Not if you have a passion and Want to learn it. I agree it's difficult, but you will get the hang of it and enjoy it more than you dread it.

Blender is an open source softare (free). You can do quite a lot with Blender, but it isn't really user friendly. But you can make pretty good PC games with it.

Making video games is hard. But like Volux said, if you have the passion and doing it. It can be a lot of fun.

Do you really want to code your own game from scratch or use a gaming engine?

You can't make console games using Blender though. If you want to make a console game, probably coding from scratch or getting a licensed gaming engine like CryEngine or ID Tech.

Most programmers don't published Blender games because it's the fact that it's an open source.

No the blender engine is not web capable. The Unity engine is web capable though and it looks beautiful.

If you want to make flash games just use Adobe Flash, I hear it's really easy to learn and get hang of. You can also make flash animations.

I don't have much experience with things like blender, and I can't learn in any way because I can't think of any way because I can't take technology in school.

I probably don't have the patience to make a game, anyway.
