Is it safe, ok, fine, etc...to use both of them on a computer at once?

Besides our usual anti-virus programs, what about these two...can they be used on one pc at once?

Thanks

Usually one program could take care of both.

I've also heard that it isn't recommended on using another program while you have anti-virus on your computer but i am not too sure about that.

Thanks

I'm thinking i'm just going to keep my anti-virus program and my malwarebytes and thats it, what you think?

Should I get spy bot too?

I use Iolo (AV + Firewall + Cleaner thingy) and using malware-bytes and Malware-Bytes finds a lot more than Iolo does.

I think if you disable the real-time shield for Spybot you should be fine. The free version of MalwareBytes is just a scanner, and does not have a real-time shield, so you need to scan your computer manually with it.

So i'm good if i install spybot then since the free version of malwarebytes is just a scanner?

You should have no issues running both but I heard Spybot does not run well in Win7. You might want to check if your running that platform.

Malwarebytes isn't an Anti-Virus Protection(at least the free version isn't). It is a virus killer and it works amazingly. If that Search and Destroy thing is a computer virus protection, then it would be fine to have both of them. But, if it isn't, I don't really see a point of it because Malwarebytes removes viruses like nothing else.

Spybot is free, and may catch a few spyware programs which Malwarebytes missed.

Spybot also has an Immunization function which blocks out harmful websites, cookies, and plug-in from infecting your computer by adding rules to Windows Host file to block bad websites.

It works similar to http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html which also adds rules to your Windows HOST file to block out bad websites which host spyware.

Spybots scans are kind of slow, but it does work on Windows 7. I been using it since I got Windows 7, and it works.

If you're using the paid version of MBAM and have its active protection on, then disable it if you want to keep using SS&D because TeaTimer should take care of that. Alternatively, you could do it the other way, disable TeaTimer, and enable MBAM's active protection.

If you're using the free version of MBAM, you should be fine, since as mentioned earlier, it's just an offline scanner.

It's best to just install Microsoft Security Essentials and nothing else. It takes care of everything without you needing to do anything.
