And my parents have been involved with the airline for years, and cell phones don't actually do anything. Asking for them to be turned off is simply a way to "make people feel safer" when in reality it does nothing.

Yeah my mom was a private flight attendant for like 30 years (she flew Clinton, Bush, Cheney, George Clooney, etc) and she has said it really doesn't have any effect on the equipment or any of that crap.
