The first question I have to ask all of you is, Are you willing to become a better Forum Administrator? If so, I have an amazing book for you. It is called Managing Online Forums by Patrick O'Keefe. I have had this book for about a year or more now and have read it twice, front to back. It has helped me with understanding how forums truly work and how to run small and large communities. He explains how to setup Community/Board Rules to picking the best staff for your forums and how to manage your team.

I've been looking for a book like that. Will check it out. Thanks for sharing.

I was going to pick up a copy of that book, but considering I already have 2+ years of actual solid experience, there's no reason for me to, although I'm sure it'd be interesting to read from a different administrator's perspective.

Might be good for beginners who have never run a forum before though.

Your welcome. It's a good price for such a great book.

And Mr.Green I am sure you do not know everything. It is still a good read.
I have 5+years of experience in forums, and I still find myself checking out this book for reminders and tips now and then.

I never said I know everything - nobody can say that. Not even the author of that book.

I've downloaded the ebook demo and really am considering getting the actual book is already it's quite good and the author is bring up some good points and suggestions. Perhaps it's at the library?

Any chance of getting this in a local bookstore? Who knows, there might be things about owning and administrating forums I never knew before!

I doubt it. He's most likely selling just on Amazon but there are books out there at libraries and such.

That is up to your local library administration. The actual owner of the library will go online and search for books to buy and put in their library. You can always go and ask if they could buy it for the library. I have done that plenty of times for my library.

This is his site. I think perhaps the book is a little outdated. It only talk about phpBB and vBulletin in it too.

That doesn't matter. He isn't going to show you tutorials for phpBB3.0.7. He is telling you what he knows about running "Communities". And that doesn't matter even if you had a SMF, IPB, MYBB or whatever forum software is out their now a days. Its for EVERYONE

Unless he has more than that 12,000 post forum, I don't think his credentials are very good.

I (for once) agree with Cosmic. He has 12k posts on his site. It doesn't look great. Some of his tips will out-date over time.

I just bought the book. I had a ton of money saved up on P2S, so it was free. I can't wait to read it.

Still not impressed? I may look into his work 😀

Yeah he owns the iFroggy Network. Which is still popular in ranking. He has some other great sites too. But you have to remember he doesn't have a staff. It's all his doing as a "One Man Army."
