Manchester United or English football forum?

Would anyone be interested in joining one? I am thinking of making one and have a great domain idea.

Yeah it belongs in brainstorming or peer to peer but anyway my advice: There are a lot of Manchester United forums and there's a lot of competition, if you are to make one, it needs to be different to the others also you need to focus on advertising in Manchester and other places with a lot of Manchester United supporters. Even though there are a huge worldwide fan base, you'd have more luck focusing on the Manchester area in particular.

Id say about only 30% of their fans actually live in manchester.

Make that 5%, everyone supports them but you would have better luck targeting areas with a mainly Manchester United fan base.

Yeah but the gloryhunters are spread all over the place so you cant really target one place 😛 Try london, always full of plastic utd fans.

But targeting a general audience, you'll only have about 1% of people supporting Manchester United and only about 10% supporting a football team at all but then focus in on football fans, bigger percentage, then focus on a place like Manchester, much bigger percentage.

To be honest, with a football forum, there would be no point focusing on a particular are considering they come from everywhere. Targeting a specific audience (e.g people from manchester) could even have negative effects. Also, I dont see how a forum owner would go about targeting mancunians to be honest 🙂

It would definitely be a really hard niche to fit into to be honest. It's very limited, very popular, and you would have massive boards to compete with.

I think a english based football forum will work best for you, opposed to one based on one club. I'd definitely join an up-and-coming general football forum, too. 🙂

You think that's the only way to advertise in a specific area. There will be forums just for Manchester go on them, build an email list with people in Manchester in it.


The idea for English football in total, not just one club is good.
