now we come to an argument that has been going on since records began. What sport is the manliest?

in my opinion its:
RUGBY :cheer:

To be honest, hockey is the toughest sport there is. First of all, it's VERY tiring. If you haven't ever played hockey with a team on a real sized rink, you definitely don't know what it feels like. Secondly, All the checking, hitting, and scrummages are tough to do and take. Also, there is fighting. Messy, bloody, fist fights straight to the face. Ice hockey comes all in a package.

One word. padding. rugby padding is not mandatory and it is very thin

People think that because there's padding it's less of a sport than it could be. American Football has many more major injuries compared to Rugby simply because of what is legal and illegal when it comes to tackling (obviously with padding we're gonna have more leeway here). Rugby players end up with more cuts and bruises than football players, however.

The only reason football isn't illegal today is because of its padding. If there was no padding there are arguments that suggest the sport would be illegal.

Rugby players get broken fingers, noses, etc., whereas football players break bones and have other major damages more frequently.

Imagine playing without padding - there would be many more deaths and irreversible injuries today as well.

That's not to say Rugby isn't a manly sport at all, because I think it is. It was extremely tiring when I played in high school overseas.

yes but in rugby, well :
warning, the image in the spoiler is bloody, and actually quite scary lol

If anyone says Football (soccer), get out...

Football players are pathetic and start crying if they get poked.

Hockey (not Ice Hockey) is quite a rough sport and that has no padding except for the shin-padding.

@Luke M: Yeah Netball is crazy, I'm surprised that it's still legal to play that[/sarcasm] 😉

Padding? Does that stop the hundreds of injuries that happen in hockey? Maybe some but DEFINITELY not all.

Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS0HpbZDTYs

It may be the best fight but many others are very bloody (if that's what you think manly is -.-)

Why aren't the referees doing anything? They're just watching..

Ok, are they ever not allowed? It seems like I've seen them broken up before.

If the reff thinks he is safe breaking up 2 people then he can but if the intentions of the 2 players are kill kill kill then the reffs will get them when they are down.

If you'd call MMA a sport then that has to be the manliest, i can't think of any sport where you will certainly get as badly hurt...

Well, yes, MMA is a very manly sport as you are basically fist fighting and beating the living snot out of the other guy. Though, the fighters aren't as aggressive. Yea, they swing, but they swing to mortally wound and knock out their opponent; or tap them out if they throw in Judo and such.

In Hockey, if the refs didn't get in the way, players would probably send each other to the hospital or 6 feet under if the situation got really bad.

Hockey and football (American) are the manliest sports, in my opinion.

Yes, I know hockey is way rougher than football, but that's what I think of first when I think of a manly sport....plus, manly doesn't nessasarily mean extremely rough.
