One massive problem for each and every webmaster out there is Activity Levels and trying to keep their discussion board active. When it's low or dead, do you send out mass emails asking users to come and visit the forum again?
Do you think a strategy like this works or could be deemed as annoying?
I wouldn't email 'cos I wouldn't want to be emailed. If I'm not on a forum often, there's a reason. Maybe I'm too busy, or maybe I honestly don't care for it but hoping it will get better.
Mass emails or monthly newsletters to end out to all members that they have ticked the box to say they went to receive emails. Well, I can't do mass emails anyway since I only can do 100 forward emails a month and if I pass that 100 then people that join or need email password reset don't get that email. At least it doesn't go into spam box LOL
But at the end of the day, I only have sent mass emails in the past 5 years under 15. Most are not interested and or just removed it without reading it. End of the day I will rather be doing other things than dealing with newsletters that are a waste of time. I get emails from sites that I join from FP and they go into my spam folder that never gets to be read and or looked at and gets deleted LOL My members and people at times can stop being active if they get spam emails from the site.
