So, this first unit in my math class is kicking my butt! I am usually really good at Math but I am not getting it, so if anyone here has knowledge of sets and subsets, please let me know and then I will explain what I am having an issue with!

What's the question, I might be able to help.

I am quite good at set theory, (excluding the fuzzy sets.) you can ask here.

Just ask here....this might end up being a huge maths thread.

Exactly LOL. I may be able to help, but I'm not sure, curious to see the question. 😛

Write the following set in Roster Notation forum.

A={X|X ∈ N and 47 ≤ x < 40}

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I am having trouble with this question:

I have to prove the left side is equal to the right side. Any help from anyone would be appreciated 🙂

Thought I solved it but I got to here:

3/ log8a / (1/3) 😛

-- 13 Nov 2013, 17:16 --

Think I might have now solved it: http://snag.gy/bk9eU.jpg

Use the change of base rule (using any other base):

log2a = ln(a)/ln(2)
log8a = ln(a)/ln(8)

So then LHS = 3/[ln(a)/ln(2)] = 3ln(2)/ln(a)
and RHS = 1/[ln(a)/ln(8)] = ln(8)/ln(a)

So you can either change ln(8) into ln(2^3) = 3ln(2)
or change 3ln(2) into ln(2^3) = ln(8).

Then LHS = RHS.

I wish I were good at math so I could look smart like these guys!

Just kidding. I don't wish I were good at math, but I'm glad some people are. xD
