I would like to share a Math trick I've learned when I was in grade 5. Everything will be done mentally. Here are the steps:
This trick always works for any two consecutive numbers. How will you guess the answer? The trick is simple. I figured it when my friend keeps on asking me to add the higher number to 3. The answer is always 4 no matter what numbers I choose. I figured that 1 is always added to the random number you asked your friend to add to the higher number. In this example, your friend was asked to add the higher number to 2. So 2+1 = 3. The final answer is 3. No need to guess the two consecutive numbers. This trick is guaranteed to work at all times as long as the numbers chosen are consecutive numbers. How did you find this trick? Do this to your friends and spread the fun with Math.
- Let your friend choose two numbers. Any number will do as long as it's two consecutive numbers only.
- Let's say the chosen numbers are 11 and 12.
- Ask your friend to add the higher number to a random number you can think of. Let's say you ask your friend to add 2 to the higher number. So it will be 12+2.
- Ask your friend to subtract the the lower number from the answer. So 12+2 = 14. Then 14-11 = 3.
- After solving everything mentally, you will guess the final answer, which is 3.
