Linux was publicly announced on 25 August, 1991, three days before my birthday ๐Ÿ™‚
I've been using it for just over five years and would never go back ๐Ÿ™‚
I currently use Ubuntu, currently at 9.10 ๐Ÿ˜€
What are your experiences with the Linux OS'S?

unfortunately I have never used any OS other than windows XP and vista, but yeah this belongs in technology

Let's just say I'd never go back either and would rather use an older version of Linux and a modern version of Mac OS or Windows and I'll just keep it at that before end up offending Windows and Mac users.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 as well but I'm going to install Lucid on my desktop.

and if I ever get around to it I'm going to build a server using Ubuntu Server Edition.

Don't get me started on ethics, Linux is amazing and I love how Ubuntu is so humanitarian.

It combines tw of my major passions in life. Making a difference, and technology.

Sounds like the rest of those Windows fanboys that think other OS's are crap just because they can only use Windows ๐Ÿ˜›

no, I've just never had the opportunity to try another OS

Well i currently use OpenSuse 11.2 and love it. I still have my windows xp on another partition. Why? I honestly have no clue.. I could replace that partition with OpenSolaris, but I am so lazy...

I use Ubuntu 9.10 when I want to learn more about Ubuntu. I usually run Ubuntu OS in a Virtual Machine like Virtual Box.

I used Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04, Mandrake, and Fedora.

I had the same thought.

My first distro was Mandrake 7.2, I loved it. Unfortunately, unlike today.. with Wine, VMs and applications galore... lack of Linux interested by most corporations meant.... compatibility woes.

Thats wasn't (or is it still) Linux's fault... If Microsoft had to make all the drivers for their system... they'd go belly-up.

Not to mention if most of the industry didn't back them.
