What do you think of topics with huge numbers of posts which discuss one thing.

I know that they can cause issues with some software (mainly performance) and they're lengthy, but it also helps to keep things together in one place rather than having new topics springing up all the time to cover the same old things.

I'm a member on a forum where quite a lot of the threads have over 500 pages full of very technical discussion.

I love really in-depth technical discussion, and I love it even more when it's all in one place.

It can be fun to have mega topics on a forum. I guess it also depends on how good the server and database for the forum happens to be, if it could potentially not have an issue with how big some of these topics get.

I say if you have 10 posts on each page under the topic then it should be fine. It goes crazy when you have 20 or 30 posts on each page. Also if it's just words and not images or videos then all good.

It gets slow when each post has images to load up. Not on server side but users side

I love mega threads for discussion of shows. Love having it all in one place where people can have on-going conversations.
