Megaupload gone!

If memory serves, overriding the president's veto requires a supermajority from both chambers of Congress...
That's correct. It requires a two-thirds supermajority. I doubt that this bill will make it past that threshold.

I could even get arrested and my website shutdown i used a copyrighted song by another singer and posted it on FP, YouTube and AT (Admin Talk)

YouTube will be closed down too omg..

-- 21 Jan 2012, 15:04 --

[quote="Fowler":][quote="Flux.":]This was a stupid move by the FBI, did they not think this would cause an uproar? If congress wants it badly enough, they can override the President's veto.

Then they are pretty much violating the Constitution and should be forcibly removed. And I thought the President had final say as it was?

No, checks and balances. If the president's veto was final he'd have too much power.

Yup, it's really a shame. I mean it'd be great if more artists embraced the power of content lockers. There is a lot of money to be made just by uploading files; currently it's made by random people for the most part, but clearly also done by some artists. Of course the RIAAstapo can't let this go on.

Another reason for why I believe the RIAA should be done away with. Or have the old guard cast out and have people who actually give a crap about the artists run it.

Also another reason for why I stay Underground/Independent a majority of the time.

Yup. Reminds me I should go buy some thing from both Asian Man Records & Plan-it-x records, both independent punk labels, they deserve the money. Instead of charging outrageous fees they charge between $5-8 CD/cassette and $10 an LP... people need to support more labels that actually care about fans and artists.

That's a ridiculous statement, Gimgak. Artists should never be able to keep the majority of the profit that their songs generate. NEVER!

Did you know that MegaUpload offered premium status as a reward if you uploaded pirated content? And everyone is angry that the site is gone, gee how surprising.

Imagine the thousands to millions of people that bought premium 😛

Pfff the president is just a smokescreen to hide the true rulers of the U.S and soon the world.

Mind providing proof on that statement. I say this because long ago I did just that and never got a premium account.

I do agree Megaupload had it coming, hell if you read a few articles you will know they have been under investigation for 2+ years.

The problem is the owners are in hong kong and if I am not mistaken everything they are doing is legal there. So why in the heck and how the heck are they being arrested.

Because the FBI has jurisdiction.
Megaupload is based in Hong Kong, but some of the alleged pirated content was hosted on leased servers in Ashburn, Va., which gave federal authorities jurisdiction, the indictment said.
