That must have been fun watching the place grow from the beginning. How long did it take for it to catch on in popularity?

Not very long. Freeforums.org was fairly new itself, run by two guys. So as more people came to use their services more people found Fowler and Ste’s forum. I initially joined thinking “I’ll see what all the fuss is about”, then stuck around.

Those first few years were the best for me personally. Where you saw activity and achievement grow. But it was the strangest thing, as we were all teenagers. All the staff, members and owners, 16+. Fowler and Ste were just 16 themselves when they first started the forum.

Just after Ste sold the forum to Fergal I left. The end of an era. I popped back now and then over the years, but so much had changed and the majority of the old guard had left, it just wasn’t the same place anymore. It felt like it turned from being a family to a business. But I’m still one of a few still around from way back, would love to hear more from them.
