I'm migrating my forum to a new XenForo forum from MyBB. I'm worried my members will be confused by the new site though. XenForo and MyBB have some major differences, and I fear my members won't like the change.
From a member prospective, do you think there is a big learning curb with the switch to XenForo, and do you think it would frustrate my members?
It depends on the age of your users? I presume you are regarding your gaming community in which case I would presume most of your audience will be quite tech-savvy and so shouldn't be too much of a problem. It will take some getting used to for sure, but Xenforo's UI is pretty simple and easy to learn in my opinion.
I don't feel like there is much of a member transition for any forum software. The learning curve will be more on the admin (and to an extent, staff) side. If you're comfortable with it, your members will likely be fine. As for xenforo itself, it's pretty user friendly for both admins and members so I don't see any issues there especially since you're coming from MyBB.
Honestly, it's not really that hard. Assuming your users are younger, they should not have any issues with navigating around. It's pretty straight forward software, unless you get into the ACP/Mod Panel, then I can see some users getting a bit confused. The mod panel is so different from the MyBB one. 😛
I found XenForo pretty easy to understand, the same kind of "language" or rather keywords are used in XenForo and MyBB which makes it pretty easy for the tech savvy users to get used to.
