I've had some issues on my forum with members leaving. I've never actually had a member leave my forum because they don't like the way things are going on the forum itself (yet) and they've all pretty much left for real life reasons.

I don't get mad at people when they leave, but my forum is a fairly close-knit community, and I always miss people really badly after they leave. Does anybody else have this problem? x_x

For everyone that leaves, someone else will come. Of course they're not a replacement, but I wouldn't fret over it.

I realize that there will always be other members, but I don't know. I just get attached to the people who have been posting for a long time. xD

people come and go, some leave because they don't like the forum or they can't be on the net or do forums anymore. but for everyone that leaves there is another to take that person's place.

Give them a reason for coming back as most leave due to something. If you offer a competiton maybe? that is related to the forum, im sure many will come back and post to try and win the big prize!

Or you could always mass email?

Newsletters can be good with updates and things on them if your forum does them

Also reminds people that your forum is infact still alive and kicking.

I do sometimes feel the same way... Usually when active members who have been here for a while or staff members and especially team leaders when they leave. Unfortunately that is just something that happens as people have to put real life first.

I keep close to my community members when they just leave. I have their e-mail, and give them my support if they're suffering. They tend to come back after a bit when you do so. They're worth having around, enough for me to take time outta my day to type up some e-mails.
