We've had some new members on Christianity Haven who copy and paste long bible studies that they've posted on numerous other sites. They really have no interest in true discussion it seems.

Do you get members like that?

I posted with someone for years who copied/pasted literally everything they posted. You could google the content from any of their posts and see all their responses word-for-word in google search results. I found it odd and disingenuous, but I never called them on it. Sometimes their responses inspired conversations from the legit members in the community so I suppose there wasn’t much harm in it.

IF they respond to others on the site and there are conversations, then that's wonderful. I have a couple guys who are posting and not wanting to answer questions.

I suppose if your members are being pushy and aggressive, that might make them clam up and not want to respond. Some people are lurkers and just want to read what other people say. Either that or they could be a bot.

I've seen it a lot of post exchanges that comes from here. Not the majority but quite a few do it.

I can't complain too much.

I just treat those as bad restaurants. I'll never visit again or I'll never accept a post exchange from them again.

Copy/Paste is pretty lazy.

I have in the past had members come onto a forum that I have run who will copy and paste things from a website word for word and just make it their post. I never minded copying and pasting if it was quoted and the site it was from was linked but many never did that and they would do it on several different forums which meant exactly the same post on numerous places which is never good for any site.

I've banned people for doing this in the past. It's bad for SEO and just not needed.

I get members who copy-paste. I delete these accounts outright without even asking the member to correct the mistake.

Yep, I guess it doesn't hurt then. I think I know who you mean. I say as long as it contributes and actual legit members respond so be it.

Copying another person's work and passing it off as your own is unethical. It isn't honest and the person who does it has no morals. It isn't fair to people who do actually write stuff themselves. It can seriously damage the reputation of the person you copied it from too. Even though some members copy and paste from external sources or even what someone has else has already said, there is no originality from the person who wrote said post.

If they were to continue I would copy and paste the sermons of the board rules.

I've only had two spam messages on my forum so far out of 1300+ members and they were both cryptocurrency links. I consider threads that people just copy and paste on various forums spam and they are more or less trying to advertise their own site or trying to convert people's belief systems.

I've seen people do it before. I'm not a fan of it. I try to come up with my very own topics if I can think of any off of the top of my head. If I can't, I just respond to other topics.

I've never noticed a member doing it, but rarely I will copy and paste parts of a post I've made already if what I wrote applies to something I saw on another forum. The only time I commonly copy/paste anything I write across multiple boards is when I make a new thread that I make on multiple boards at the same time, because I'm not going to write it differently each time as there is absolutely no point. If a board owner expected me to re-write my thread specifically for their board I would just stop bothering to bring threads over to it; I'm not writing a different version of a thread for every board I post it onto.

I actually copy and paste threads I MAKE on other forums to my own. I'll admit I'll do that, but it is in my own words and not copied from a wiki or so.

Aside from being bad for the issue of not engaging in discussions, this can also lead to copyright issues. I have known of forums having issues where members were copy/pasting entire news articles (not to plagiarize, but just for the sake of starting topics), which led to the copyright police getting upset.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I do not think this would be an issue in regards to bible verses, but it is somewhat related.
