Merging forums

Have you ever merged your forum with another? I'm thinking of asking owners of inactive gaming forums to merge with LevelUnlocked's forum to create a 'super-forum' 😛

What are your views on this?

I think it can give a boost to your forum. But, you have to come to a few agreements before you do the merge such as you'll/they'll value your opinion and at least give an effort to make changes necessary.

Will you be using the same software to merge or do you have to do a conversion first?

Anyway, be careful before you do a merge, the more staff/administrator you have the more trouble you'll run into(at least with start up websites/forums).

Merging it self is easy and the idea is great but precautions must be taken.

Are you able to do it over different software?

And what I'd probably do is make it so I am the only Admin and then the Admins of the other forum(s) become GMods, as I don't currently have any.

I saw many sites merging lately but never a part of them so I didn't really know how it feels to be on a merged website.

Merging could be proven useful if all the websites can unite their vision together. Bringing staff members of sites which wanted to be unique and different before into one new course would be hard, and as others have said about me, having too many staff members would be risky. You can only put them on a position lower than you if they agree, of course. I think as long as you decide clearly per details of what the merging would result on, it would do well.

Yes but both websites have to be converted to 'one software' first. :yes:
