Microsoft Security Essentials is Free do you use it

Microsoft Security Essentials is free for home users and beginning next month it will also be made available free of charge to small business users. I currently use a paid version of ESET Smart Security but may well switch to this free Microsoft product when my ESET licence expires.

Has anyone used this product?

To be honest Microsoft's security system have always been sub par. I don't even have a security system at the moment but I usually use ESET NOD32 and it's perfect, no need for this.

I used Microsoft Security Essentials in the past. It was pretty good lightweight antivirus which did not slow down my PC.

But, I decided to go back to AVG free because I like the user interface and the features better especially the automatic shutdown after scan is complete feature which shuts down my computer when a computer virus scan is done.

I use it as well as my Norton. I've heard people rave that its all you need. It's good, but a paid alternative will always be better in my mind.

I would never use it because as windows is very insecure and this anti virus might also be like that

I currently use Microsoft Security Essentials on my Windows XP computer and have not had a problem at all.

Does that work OK for you? Having two different security solutions on a PC can sometimes slow it down?

Actually Windows is very secure, a lot more secure than Macs.

I decided to test it out, and found that it was quite a resource hog, relative to Avast, so I removed it.

I'll probably pass, I got Norton Anti-Virus . That works great 😀
