Interesting experiment.

The data that they released seems to point a slight different picture from the basic test, though.

This shows that Microsoft Edge is only a little, tiny bit better than firefox, not 43% better, that the top graphic implies. The difference may be due to the fact that, as I understand it, IE/Edge is always running in the background of a Window computer, whether you're using it or another browser.

Chrome, as I understand it, is designed to be a very fast and secure browser. It implements sandboxing and other technologies that speed up page loads, but at the cost of battery life. It's a trade-off, really. Just because it uses more battery doesn't make it a worse browser.

Chrome is the best browser, hands down. Battery life? Never had an issue. I am never on my laptop for long periods of time where there is no charger so not a concern for me personally.

I don't use Chrome. Mainly because it likes to install on my tiny (64GB) SSD, without a choice to change that, and I'm pretty strict on what gets to use the SSD space, and what goes on my 1TB regular hard drive.

By loading Chrome from the SSD you get a better user experience. Who wouldn't want that?

How so, other than it loading in no time?

I love how fast my computer boots, but I thought SSDs were mainly used because of the faster loading times.

My laptop stays plugged in all the time. It's a dekstop-replacement and I don't take it anywhere so battery life is not an issue for me either. 🙂

I've never had any battery issues with chrome but like a few here, I keep my laptop plugged in all the time

My main issue with Chrome is the memory consumption! Other than that, I'm fine with it.

Exactly what I was thinking! I think Windows is just bad at optimizing Chrome's awesomeness.

I don't see a reason to use Chrome.

- Broken features (fix is downloading Google Canary, seriously)
- No privacy (Google, obviously)
- RAM Eater (reason why battery won't last longer than all the other browsers.)

Unlike FireFox:

- Functional
- Privacy respected
- Not a RAM Eater
- Many plug-ins

Note that the Android default browser is based of Chrome. I still use it because I have not found a better solution yet, but note that our phone doesn't even have much RAM and battery plays a very important role. If you use Chrome on your phone, RIP!
