So, being on a fixed income and after doing some math and future-proof thinking, I decided the best route for Nucleus would be not to move it completely but to migrate it to an open source solution. That left me with 3 major players, SMF, phpBB and MyBB, after doing some research on each, I settled with MyBB and i've re-opened the forums! If you were a member of the Xenforo 1.x forum we had up for Nucleus for some time your account is still there, if not, you will need to re-register. We're still adding new features and such as well, come check out what we have done so far!

Best of luck with this once again @Smokey ๐Ÿ˜€
I'm not sure if I was ever a member on this particular board as I think it came about during my forced hiatus, so I'll look into it and get registered if I already haven't ๐Ÿ˜€

Wow! That's great!!! I've been using MyBB as well, for almost 5 years! They're great and always upgrading!
With my mentor who's really great at making MyBB themes I've really had fun using MyBB. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think a problem with open source as mentioned by @post2vps on my forum (It's MyBB), is some major plugins aren't updated that much.

I don't think that is really a problem with open source, if anything it's a problem with the author keeping their work updated. I've seen the same with some premium software and it's not what you expect when you paid for something only to have it either hold you back versions or have to find another assortment and merge the paid plugin with another paid plugin that is updated.

I think a person needs to be on top of the game on this stuff. I mean, I remember, when a friend of mine got hacked and had to shut down. What a shame!

I'm usually on top of my upgrades. Any forum can become insecure if they aren't up-to-date. ๐Ÿ™‚

phpBB seems to be a hassle to upgrade so I bet that's where my friend messed up.
I have heard that myself. MyBB seems fairly easy to upgrade. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have experience with upgrading many forum softwares though so I should be OK ๐Ÿ™‚

SO it went all good? and you happy with it?
Yes, the conversion went well, no data loss at all and so far so good ๐Ÿ™‚ My members seem happy with it ๐Ÿ™‚ Managed to get a theme I like that's pretty easy to customize/tweak as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

MyBB is great and I'm sure you will love it. Good luck with everything ๐Ÿ™‚

As long as you know a little css and html you can tweak and redesign it.
As for me, I'm buying cheap premium themes then I tweak it to my liking. ๐Ÿ™‚

So are you selling the XF license or letting someone borrow it?

I have 2 XF licenses, not sure which I will put up for sale yet, probably the one with the add-ons attached to it, just need to find a good asking price and renew the license prior to selling it. ๐Ÿ™‚
