The traditional diet for those who intend to lose weight is crackers and fresh milk. I remember my mother having only 3 pieces of saltine crackers for her meal plus a glass of milk although sometimes it is water. Old folks say that crackers for meals is the healthiest way to lose weight. And the milk is a supplement for the bones especially for older women.
But now it seems that the saltine crackers have been forgotten in lieu of the modern diets like the South Beach Diet, the after 6 diet and many other diets. For me, maybe I will stick with the crackers.
There is a banana only diet that lasts for 4 days. I have never come across a person who completed the doet regiment but they say taht its very effective. God alone knows.

I don't know if that banana diet there is the same here. One classmate of mine who was obese had that diet of plantain banana - this is not eaten raw, it is usually boiled and sometimes fried. That type of banana will cause you to gain weight on the first few days until your body stabilizes and starts to shed off pounds. I think it is effective but I did not try it because banana does not sit well with my stomach. I develop indigestion if I would eat 2 pieces of boiled banana.
I know I wouldn't eat just saltine crackers and milk. My typical way to loose weight is the old adage, eat less, and get the junk out of the system. Lost 15 pounds by reducing how much I ate, and not completely removing the junk from my diet.
