What is the biggest misconception do you think will continue to affect most people?
I also think there are misconceptions about Christians (since I run a Christian forum) and I think a lot of those misconceptions come from bad press and people who have turned from the church.
What kind of misconceptions?
There are a lot of misconceptions about Atheism that Christians are really judgy about where I live. I've also had some of the same arguments and debates with people right here on forums. Most people think Atheists believe in Evolutionary theory, the Big bang, and Anthropology. Atheism is in no way connected to scientific belief. Most of us don't believe in that. A lot of Christians and Catholics that I have debated with in the past think Atheism is a religion. That's wrong. Atheists don't believe in anything. Atheism is not a belief or a religion. Atheism is the absence of belief and the absence of practicing any kind of religion. It just means means that there is over 4,300 active and inactive religions out in the world and I don't practice or believe in any of them. People will judge regardless.
I find that frustrating. I think it's okay to believe in something as long you're not out forcing it on someone or making remarks that they're stupid because they're not part of or share your views.
Most people don't follow the rules of their religion. They claim it has more to do with their relationship with that deity. As for being perfect. It is a lie. It is an idea without an example. It does not exist. People shouldn't use it to compare anything to. Because that's just not realistic or mature thinking.Misconceptions about Christians is that people complain when a Christian does something wrong and then insist that the person isn't a Christian. Those outside of the religion don't understand that Christians aren't perfect people but people who understand that we aren't perfect and need a Savior.
I've seen a lot of memes about how people hate Christianity because of the way Christians act. For me that shows that they don't understand what true Christianity is. Sure we are told to love one another but none of us can completely do that 100% of the time and it's not what gets us to heaven.
