You forum looks really awesome!

Especially since it is made with vBulletin, Most sites made with the board software doesn't look that nice but this one looks really good.

The name & domain you got are also really good.

Hope to see what becomes of your site!

Dude, the theme is sick.
I love this theme ^_^
Also for a month open those are awesome stats.

I also LOVE that you included nintendo sections, most forums leave those out

Thanks pirate. We got the theme for free, but it was once premium. Originally it was all black, but we wanted a black and red them so we made some edits. I'm glad you liked how it turned out though 😀 Also if you like it, feel free to register and if you like the community come around when you can. I appreciate the review.

I like your theme and it looks like your activity is very good. 2000+ posts in a month is great! My suggestion is that you should have an option to switch to a lighter theme. I looked at your theme switcher and there are no lighter themes. Some people like myself are not great fan of dark themes so I think it would be a great additional to include a lighter theme as an option.

Good luck with your forum!

I love the theme and the forum icons, it looks very good. See that the forum is growing fast, and the dark theme makes it feel exactly like a gaming forum. My only suggestion is to decrease the detail of the Top 10 Stats or make the text separate more further from each other in the Top 10 Stats at the bottom of the page, as it makes me a bit confused.

Good luck with your awesome forum! Keep up the good work 🙂

Your forum is named MistViper Gaming. I really like the name. It tell someone scrolling through a directory what your forum is about, while simultaneously doesn't completely give all of your forum discussions away without looking at your forum.

Wow! Was all I could say about my first impression of MistViper. My first reaction to seeing your forum was wanting to join because of the theme and activity. Everything looks excellent. My first impressions of your forum were excellent. Great job making a positive first impression on a viewer!

As I've already stated above, your theme looks excellent. I've seen many different gaming communities with dark themes. Yours was the first I've seen with that specific dark red that you use across your forum. This red is a very good addition to the dark theme. The soft colors immediately make me want to look around your forum.

You should try to make a light theme as an extra. Certain people prefer light themes over dark. I do not think you have a dire need for a light theme. A light theme would be a good extra option for your forum to satisfy as many users as possible.

At the time of this review. You have 2,447 posts and 193 members. You average slightly over 75 posts per day and 13 threads per day. That's a very good mixture of posts and threads, especially for a forum as new as yours.

All of your sections are filled with a good amount of quality content, with both posts and threads. I could find quality conversations to relevantly post in within all of your forums. Great job keeping all the sections of your forum active with posts!

You should always put your announcements through a spelling and grammar checker. This will ensure that MistViper Gaming maintains the utmost site professionalism. Your current announcements are written well, but I can tell they haven't been put through a grammar checker. I can see a few comma splices and even a spelling error or two. I also see a few texting terms like "XD" used in announcements. You shouldn't use texting terms in an official forum announcement. These problems could be fixed easily by just putting all of your announcements through a grammatical checker. Reading everything out loud can help fix this as well.

Originality
[note]========== BEGIN - Originality ==========[/note]
Gaming is a tough genre to accomplish quality originality. MistViper Gaming needs some truly original ideas. Almost everything that you have on MistViper Gaming can already be found somewhere else. You need an original idea that very few, if any people have already on their forum/site. For your specific forum, I would like to see gaming reviews. You could add reviews about different games and systems on a blog for your members.

Site Structure
[note]========== BEGIN - Site Structure ==========[/note]
MistViper Gamings' structure is straightforward. Everything is simple to find within MistViper. I didn't have any problems finding my way around the forum. This is a very important aspect of a forum. Guests will need to find their interest, quickly. Your forum does exactly that. I could find many different types of discussions about gaming very quickly and easily.

Grammar & Spelling
[note]========== BEGIN - Grammar & Spelling ==========[/note]
Just like with your official announcements, all of your site descriptions should be put through a grammatical checker and be read out loud.

Your site description for "Announcements" reads "Any news, update or rules of MistViper Gaming." That should be changed to "Any news, updates or rules of MistViper Gaming will be found within this section." That will better describe this section while also making the sentence grammatically correct.

You need to do a better job creating a site image. I'm not sure if your forum name is spelled " Mist Viper" or "MistViper." I believe it's MistViper because that's what you posted the name on the review request. What originally confused me was the "Introductions" forum description which reads "Introduce yourself to the Mist Viper community here. It helps people to get to know you early on." MistViper has a space inside of that sentence, while it doesn't have a space in other areas.

I personally do not see the big deal with that. It gives off more of a friendly feeling to people who do understand that "XD" just means laughing. To people who don't know that, I can understand that point.

Official forum announcements should be professional, but not professional to the point where you are not being yourself. If it's your nature to type "XD" after saying something funny, or being silly, continue with that.

I've never refrained from adding in a bit of "text terms" to forum posts, even if I am staff. I'd also like to point out, while text terms such as "XD" started as only text message/SMS text, a lot[/b] of people online use it now.

Thanks for the Review John! I've already fixed the grammar/spelling errors in the forum category descriptions. As for the light theme we are working on one now! We are also working on getting more originial content on our website, such as a blog for gaming news/reviews, so definitely wait for that. Thanks to everyone else for the reviews as well we are constantly working on improving our community.

Wow the layout is really nice and is easy to navigate. The colors work well together (red and black is always nice). I especially like the logo at the top of the page and how it lights up when you move over it. Over all this is just a really well designed and the layout is phenomenal.

The only suggestion I can make is to add a favicon, that logo would go really well as a favicon.

Overall
Overall, I think your forum is of great quality in both layout and information. I see a lot of potential for your forum and I am looking forward at helping be a part of that group of people that helps you get there.

Design and Layout
Your layout is nice and organized, in my opinion. I like that you have included a section for all of the major consoles, including PC(s). Your header looks astounding. It's simple, yet professional and effective for a gaming forum. It's my favorite thing about your forum. I think it was clever, as well as a good idea, to use different icons for each individual forum; making each one stand out apart from each other.

Content
I think you have done a pretty good job of making sure that each of the boards and all of the threads remain on topic per each. I applaud your staff team. As I have been an administrator of my own forums, I think it is a good idea to make sure that your posts are complete sentences. Make sure they are structured correctly too. As a forum owner, you want to be the person who creates the best content for your members. Using complete sentences in all of your posts will help you do that. It will give your post substance.

First off, thank you for being the first person to request a Meticulous Review 🙂 . This is the first Meticulous Review we've ever done. I greatly enjoyed doing this.

My first impressions of MistViper Gaming were overwhelmingly positive. Everything is laid out in a clear way that tells me exactly what you're forum is about, while at the same time adding your own original style by adding an element of friendliness that will leave a positive impression on a first time viewer. The laid back atmosphere is obvious at first glance just by reading the line under your "Donations" tab that reads "Chuck Norris Approved." This shows a quality, laid back community that you've created at MistViper.

I'm going to do something different. I've used all of your themes throughout the past two weeks. I will do a review on both, then give a final grade on them.
Your first theme is "MV Fluent Dark." This theme is the best theme you have. The red and black do a really good job of "flowing" with each other. The color scheme is very balanced and does a very good job of enticing a viewer to look at your theme, which in turn makes it easier to convince a viewer to look around your forum with just a first impression.

The only thing I see with this theme that I dislike is the icon guide at the bottom. It reads "icon Legend

Contains unread forum posts

Contains no unread forum posts"
IMG_20150328_164142_4077.jpg
However, all of your forum specific icons are customized. That bar is not needed because all of your forum specific icons are customized, not the default ones showed in the picture.

Your next theme is called "MV Light." This is a fair theme. It is not as good as your dark theme, but is still a decent quality theme. I see a few issues with it, unfortunately. First off, the staff and Member username colors are meant for a dark theme. They look very non dominant against your light theme.
IMG_20150328_165745_4163.jpg

The member and admin color especially look like they've already been drawn into the theme. I would recommend you either make the background color more dominant, or make the user names more dominant, by adding some extra bold to both your member and admin colors.

Something else I noticed is your ranks are above the avatars on all themes. This looks really awkward. Ideally, the rank should be below the avatar.

Right now, MistViper Gaming has 807 threads and 5,476 posts. Your post numbers are very good. However, your thread numbers are nearly what should be expected from a forum of your post and Member count. Your forum staff needs to be posting threads consistently so regular members will always have something to reply to. Your gaming sections especially need work in this area. Right now, your off topic forums are doubling your all of your gaming specific boards. Numbers like that tell me rather quickly that the majority of your activity is in "Chit-Chat" type threads. While those areas and threads are important, MistViper is a gaming forum. It goes without saying that most of your conversations should be in gaming sections, since you're a gaming forum.

This is a area you really excelled in. All of the questions I had about the site were answered quickly, professionally and with exactly the information I asked for. Keep this aspect of your forum up. It really helps show that you're a friendly community, as well as showing how much the staff team cares about the forum's members.

I also noticed your staff member's high post quality. I very rarely see one word posts by your staff. All of the posts are high quality and do a great job to contributing to the topic at hand.

Originality
[note]========== BEGIN - Originality ==========[/note]
Gaming is probably one of the toughest genres to accomplish originality in. MistViper Gaming is a very nice and active forum. Unfortunately, though there aren't very many original ideas within it. Gaming forums are one of the most done forum genres out there. You're constantly competing with hundreds, if not thousands of other forums that are already out there. You have to ask yourself a question. "Why should someone join and become active on my forum?" There are plenty of other forums for people to be a member of already. The main thing you could use against other, larger gaming forums is Originality. As I said in my previous review, I think a gaming review section/blog would be very cool and unique. If you do not wish to follow that path, I believe a gaming arcade would be interesting. Then, members could play games on a gaming forum.

Honestly, I don't see many, if any grammatical or Spelling mistakes on MistViper. I see a few very minor comma splices in your announcements, but nothing that makes your announcements hard to read. Your community was a very open and friendly community. I got a very nice and friendly PM from a regular member inviting me to a personal Team Speak server to talk with the members immediately after joining. I do not know if every member receives this PM. However, it was a very nice jester and really set a friendly first impression upon me as a new member. It made me feel very welcome, especially seeing that a regular member sent this, not a staff member.

Your forum can be a little slow on activity sometimes, mainly because of your forum's current size. I would encourage you to do little things like reply to your "Hello Goodbye" type thread whenever you're on MistViper. Doing something that might seem small can really make a big deal in the long run, because it shows commitment to posting from the staff members of the forum.

Quality Content is probably the toughest thing for a forum of your size to accomplish. You definitely have a good amount of quality content, in both general and gaming sections. You have some very good conversations and even debates in your gaming section. This can be improved right now. I would encourage you to post one quality gaming related thread per day. Doing this increases your conversation ability by giving your members more and more to reply to.

MistViper is a very good gaming community. I reviewed this site about a month ago and can tell some of the improvement you've made since that time. When I first visit MistViper, I am greeted by a dark theme and pleasant logo. I also see many colorful forum icons and cheery staff names. You have a very good dark theme, and a not good light theme. I have no suggestions for the dark theme as it seems great to me already, but the light theme needs some work. I recommend scrapping it all together and getting a new one altogether.

There are may ones for VB. The light theme is basically the dark one with a lighter background, that is what makes it so bad in my opinion. The post bit should be more centered, some things have too many spaces in between. Everything should be lined up.

MistViper is doing great in the statistics area, with the current stats being: Threads 806, Posts 5,502, Members 369, and Active Members 196. It is disappointing to see that only 196 out of 369 members of your forum are active. You should try sending a weekly MV newsletter to give a little reminder to those who haven't been to the forum in a while to come back. I like how you have a prize contest going on right now, I am sure this will help with that some. I would also encourage more niche posting than in the off topic areas, since gaming is the main focus of MistViper. You have a good start, continue with advertising and promotion.

Originality is hard these days, but you have done pretty good with it. I see some new things, like gaming "debates", social gaming, and tournaments. If you keep innovating, that will help with your originality. One idea is gaming live streams, where everyone would play a predetermined game over Skype or Google Plus Hangouts. The next day, they could come back to the forum and discuss it in a private "live gaming" group forum. This would bridge the gap between other mediums and your forum. I would not suggest adding gaming news, or a blog/portal, because bigger gaming sites already have this covered and done better.

You have good site structure. Everything is organized and "in reach". I like how the "sub-forums" text is in red and clearly visible. Every forum has an icon, which I think helps people recognize the forum that they are in easier. I have noticed that "New forum posts" does overlap "top 10 stats", so I would fix that soon. I would also remove the big "donate" box, with the forum being so new that makes it seem like you are desperate for donations/money. If the calendar (http://www.mistviper.com/forum/calendar ... 3c90383552) isn't being used much (you can check that in Google Analytics, you can private message me if you need help with that) I would remove it as it's just taking up space in the header.

Your community interacts pretty well together, as far as I've seen everyone is helpful and friendly with each other. The statistics also show that mostly everyone is active and posting around. One thing I really like is I got a lot of responses to my introduction thread almost immediately after I posted it.

Keep up the good work with that, it made me feel welcome and a part of the community. I noticed the same on most introduction threads also. I did (and still have) have an issue with the "where did you find us thread"- see this post: http://www.mistviper.com/forum/showthre ... 1#post4984. Members are interacting on mediums besides posting also, shown by the profile comments, buddy system, and mentions feature. I am confused about what "Xperience" is, and never figured it out.

I would say ninety five percent of your forums content is high quality which is hard now a days with the forum niche being so saturated. It's great that that is happening because originality is hard now a days.To continue that, your staff will need to promote this by posting high quality content and new threads themselves.

If they do this, members will follow suite and do the same thing. If I was a gamer, I would definitely look at your forum as a source of gaming information, content, discussion and news.

I did notice that your Art/Graphic forum (http://mistviper.com/forum/forumdisplay ... t-Graphics) is lacking some. To improve this, I would search for art or graphic content or tutorials on the internet and post them.

MistViper is a great new gaming forum. It has a lot of potential to succeed, if you work on a few things. You already have a great foundation, you just need to keep building on it. It's nice to see a gaming form on Vbulletin. Good luck with the forum!
