This topic is meant to bring together all debates about mobile operating systems. Do not make separate Mobile OS vs. Mobile OS topics, and do not derail other threads into mobile OS discussion. Also, keep it civil guys. No "Users of [OS] are idiots!" etc. Thanks!

Google Android, and Google Chrome OS for Chrome OS Chromebooks are pretty good. Although, iOS have more apps, and the apps seem to perform better when I see people using it.

Windows Phone 8 also looks pretty good, and once it has more apps, I bet it will be as popular as Android, and iOS.

I don't think Chrome OS really counts, lol.

Android definitely has price in the bag. As well, specs are generally better than on Apple devices.

I've yet to see evidence of apps performing better on Apple devices, except for with overclocked devices.

However, if an Android device and Apple device have the same specs, the iOS device will probably go a bit faster, because the Apple device doesn't use JIT compilation.

Chris Pirillo a former TechTV host for Call for help, and owner of http://Lockergnome.com shows the lag and drop frames in the Google Nexus 7 compared to the iPad Mini which had fewer drop frames, and a more smooth experience in the video.

In the video, during the web browser test, game test, and Fish swimming test, the iPad mini had fewer drop frames in games and apps, and a smoother page scrolling experience then Android's Nexus 7.

I believe the iPad Mini is just a smaller version of the iPad 2 because they use the same dualcore CPU which is the Dual-core A5, and the Nexus 7 has a faster Quad Core Tegra3 GPU, and CPU. Plus, the N7 has 1GB of RAM which makes it faster then the iPad Mini.

I see. This probably relates to the application language.

Most Android apps are in Java, and otherwise they use C++ primarily.

Most Apple apps are in ObjC.

I wish MIPS could have succeeded with their tablets. They even had 64-bit.

Plus their build of Android ran some factor faster.

Android for the price, but I would take iOS for ease. You give somebody who has never even used a smartphone before an iPhone, they will manage ok. Give someone an Android phone, it might take them a while to understand it.

I got used to Android faster, actually. Although the iPad that my school gave me is user-friendly, too.
