Alright, I am now convinced that I am not seeking for members to apply for it on ad forums anymore.
So, is hiring through the active members better to do?

I think he means instead of having members apply for the position just go through the active members and ask some of them if they would like the position idk tho.

Both have thier pros and cons but either way if a member dosnt want a job then he isnt going to take it just b/c you sent him a PM offering him it so i say just stick to the applications and only hire people that you think will do good.

I usually make a topic, allowing for applications and setting the requirements.
PM'ing the user(s) is fine too, but I prefer the other method because you can decline the application at any time.

YESSSSS! Members who apply for a posistion, or PM you for a position, are never the best choice.

It's always more rewardin g for a member to be HANDPICKED by the admin to join staff.

Your active members, are your best staff candidiates.

I would say it is always best to look at your current members for staff first. If none of your members want to be staff or you don't trust any of them then turn to ad forums to find and bring in staff. Always try to go with your current members first though. They will also like you for it more if they see that their activity might get them a job on the forum.

Yeah, I'm having bad luck with moderators on my forum. The members are never active and get demoted. But the forums not open yet, I pm them what they're supposed to do. They either login never post, or just never login again. -🙁

If no one is applying then I think you should invite people on to the team providing they are active and you believe they are trustworthy. If they don't fit those two criteria I would say it isn't worth the risk and that you should either wait for staff who seem like good candidates to apply or you'll have to be understaffed.

I ''head hunt'' reliable active members. More recently I've been giving out stupid positions like ''Forum Games Moderator'' to people to keep my advertisement threads in other forums active. Not a bad strategy really.
