Do you allow your moderators to moderate their own topics? To what extent are they allowed to moderate their own content? How do you ensure they remain without bias in their actions? If you do not allow moderators to moderate their own content, why? If you do not have a forum or community, how do you view this topic? Should moderators be allowed to moderate their own content?
On Christianity Haven staff can edit their own posts or move them to the trash. We removed their delete permissions because we prefer to keep watch over the trash. They cannot trash another member's post without reporting it first and if it's an egregious rule violation they can go ahead and take care of it unilaterally (like a spammer). Otherwise to be objective they need to have consensus from other staffers as to whether the post was actually a rule violation.
As for me, I can do unilateral decisions but prefer not to unless it is a serious rule violation. I also have a Member Admin Center where members can go to complain or ask for help so if I trash a post we can discuss it there privately. I don't like airing dirty laundry 🙂 Moderators do not have access to that area.
