What is the moderators to members ratio on your forum?
I currently have 2 moderators for 60 members, which is very high, so I won't be adding any more moderators for a while.

All forums will be different. General chat forums have less moderators per a certain amount of members compared to forums like forumpromotion.net which has a high amount of moderators to members.

It all depends on what you require the moderators to do. The more you want then to do the more you will need.

If you are running a promotion forum, You will need more members due to all the services.

but if its a normal forum, you need at least 2

I had a forum with 6 moderators for 500 Members.

It depends on the quality of the moderators but I go with about one mod for every 40 members

I would go with alot of staff members if they can stay active and bring something to the forum as well as help my forum. I agree there is a limit where you have to stop.

I say wait until you hit 50 members before you add in your first mod. Then wait til you hit 100 and add a second. Then youre set for awhile, probably until 300ish, where you can add in another. At that point you should be good for any amount of members.

I never really got inot the idea of making certain Mods control certain foums. I think every true Mod should have global power. On sites such as this its understandable because the forums are services, and should be ran seperate from the rest. On anyother site though, I like to stick with a few global.

10 moderators for 1,629 members. I don't plan on getting anymore staff members. I could actually do without one or two of them.

I have 2 admins and 2 moderators right now for 50 members, but I will not be adding any more. The closest thing to the moderators is my events staff, but they can only moderate in one forum, and they have access to post threads in that forum as well to keep spam out.

I have two admins for a gaming board. We both work fine together so in the end it is balanced.

Depends on how well-behaved the members are. If they break rules a lot you should have more mods.

Here we only really have a handful of Moderators including team leaders, which we've found to be more than plenty for a forum of over 2,000 members and 110,000 posts.

As Merlin said, it depends how well behaved your members are but also how active your board is. Here there is a steady flow of members on all day (normally at least 3-5 at any given point) although we've had well over 20 online at once at times.
