Moderators

People who are sensible, mature and contribute a lot to the forum by posting and things like that. I also like moderators who are always on the look out for spam etc and clean it up as soon as possible.

I get annoyed sometimes when people just get moderators who they hardly even know and the chosen person hardly visits.

Im probably too picky myself. I almost never contact them directly on the issue, rather I sit back and post a topic saying we need some. They must do whatever is needed to make me want them as a moderator. Thats not saying give me stuff, but "sell" themselves the way they would a product.

After reading all submissions, I review the data at hand. Post counts, post quaily, activity, drive, personality, know how, and other things are considered.

The only site I own that doesnt play it like this is BlueHumor.org, where I really just pick Moderators at random, as the forum is meant as a joke. You honestly cant take anything on there as real. Backups are made before every Mod change, so just in case they go crazy that very second, I can restore the forum as it was before they were made staff, and I can ban them before they delete anything else.

Mature, active, Know how the forum works. A little strict but not too strict 😉

Passion for the subject of the forum , active , good quality posts and willing to help others.

They have got to know how to use the moderation features of the given forum software, be reliable as in trusting them with your forum while you are away for a day or two. Need to use full English and okay grammar, know how to act in any given situation with members or the forum itself. Be mature when called for and enjoy the site with the members too to keep the right balance.

Whilst recruiting moderators (community team) here I tend to look for the older members. With age comes maturity, and that is essential in a professional community.

Other qualities include those that have already been mentioned: Good spelling / grammar, a knowledge of the forum, how to use the moderator functions properly, gets along well with members, but also someone who genuinely wants to help out - someone who's not just in it for the power and authority it gives over other members.

I look for them to be honest people. I know most of my staff personally or one of the people I know has reccomended them. That way I know exactly what to expect from my staff.

I look for grammar, honesty, respect and people that are happy to help and know the rules.

People who be themselves as well as those who follow the rules altogether. I'd like them to post thoughtful and interesting posts, help others who need it and have an interest in the forums.

Yeah Damien, I think activity is an important factor too.

People who follow the rules, can enforce them well, are friendly and have good spelling/grammar.
